BROAD-BASED BLACK ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT

The Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) Act was introduced in 2003 to address years of systemic racism that continues to contribute to contemporary economic woes for previously disadvantaged South Africans of colour. The belief was that only direct government intervention would reverse the negative consequences of the apartheid system.

The 2003 BEE programme was criticised for benefiting only a narrow stratum of previously disadvantaged groups, and this led in 2007 to the introduction of a modified programme called Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment or B-BBEE.

IDS achieved its first B-BEE certification in 2008, first as a Qualifying Small Enterprise and then under the Generic Broad Based Scorecard as a Level 4 contributor.

The company has maintained its Level 4 BBEE rating since inception and is committed to broad-based black economic empowerment in South Africa and subscribes to the codes of good practice.

We are a Black Empowered organisation as per the latest ICT Charter gazette in November 2015, with 30% Black Ownership, 10.8% Black Woman Ownership and 9.84% Designated Group Ownership.

Over the past 5 years, we have been working closely with our BEE partner, Projectized Management to develop this new start-up as a black enterprise in the IT industry with a focus on providing IT solutions to Government and State Owned Enterprises. Projectized Management is financially supported by supplying IT services to IDS with IDS in return providing the management and operational support to Projectized Management on a pro bono basis.

More than a box to tick, B-BBEE is who we are.
